Project info

The project aim to bring development issues closer to new EU member states citizens, with the aim of challenging the attitudes of decision-makers and mobilising broad public participation in debates on European and National finance related to development for more sustainable energy and infrastructure, management of natural resources and tax justice at the global level. A new perspective will be promoted among EU citizens for fairer relations with developing countries – one that safeguards human rights and ensures social quality and sustainable livelihoods.

The main set of activities

a) Awareness raising and engaging civil society and the public through research, publications, fact-finding missions and events linked to the European Year of Development 2015;

b) Outreaching to media through creative communications for more systematic pan-European engagement including collaboration with experienced networks of communicators across a wide geographical range and with topical relevance, journalists‘ networks and select media by providing regular inputs to their platforms and through social media outreach;

c) Advocating and participating in policy-making processes during public events and consultations, advocacy meetings, and by collecting opinions and providing civil society inputs to policy proposals;

d) Capacity building for civil society actors to address the financial flows that impact the post-2015 development agenda through trainings, e-learnings, workshops;

Description of the ideal candidate

• Excellent written and oral English, knowledge of Russian, French, Spanish or Arabic is substantial advantage

• Strong communication skills

• Proven track record of working with CSOs, networking activities with CSO in national or international level

• Proven track record in advocacy or campaigning work either national or internationally

• Proven track-record in research (desktop research, field trips and interviews)

• Ability to analyse impacts of infrastructure projects

• Experience in event organizing, producing of outreach materials (leaflets, publications, videos, social messaging)

• Experience in relationships with national and international media

• Knowledge on EU Development agenda is advantage

• Knowledge on EU environmental legislation and policy objectives is advantage

• Knowledge on the national public (ODA, Export Credit Agencies) and private companies investments in neighbouring and developing countries is an advantage

• Knowledge on the tax justice and tax avoidance is an advantage

• Sharing the PIPA corporate values
