Monitoring and Evaluating Assistant/ Position in Ukraine

Base: Uzhhorod and Zakarpattia region (Ukraine), subject to security

Duration: full-time, 12 months with the possibility of extension

Salary: 900 EUR


People in Need Slovakia (PIN SK) is a Slovak non-profit organisation, providing direct support to those who suffer the consequences of war, to victims of natural disasters, or those living in poverty on the margins of society. Currently, PIN Slovakia is one of the major humanitarian actors in Slovakia responding the Ukraine crisis both in Slovakia and across border in Ukraine and we are looking for senior humanitarian professionals to help PIN Slovakia’s response to the escalating situation.

PIN SK has been active in eastern Ukraine along the ‘Line of Contact’ since 2014 in the fields of WASH, Shelter, psychosocial support or winterisation. Currently, our humanitarian programme in Western Ukraine focuses on psychosocial support, food security and livelihoods, shelter and non-food items.


M&E Assistant will work under the direct supervision of M&E Expert, and will be participate in monitoring and evaluation of PIN SK programmes implemented in Ukraine. She/he/they will be assist in data collection, and will be responsible for keeping the information management system regularly updated.


M&E Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the M&E Officer, and his/her/their main tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Keeping the information management system up-to-date and ensuring its quality
  • Supporting the programmes‘ staff to enter data in a timely and high-quality manner
  • Assisting in data collection and monitoring activities in the field
  • Contributing to the development of M&E tools (data gathering, analysis of activities, results tracking against indicators) that suits the programmes’ and projects’ background and requirements
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of feedback & complaint mechanism
  • Assisting in frequent and regular data analysis and reporting
  • Ensuring proper filing and storage of M&E documents, including questionnaires, monitoring reports, datasets
  • Contributing to regular meetings, M&E trainings and other capacity-building activities to ensure timely information sharing and common understanding of M&E processes across the programmes and departments
  • Performing other tasks as required by the M&E Officer


  • Experience with research, knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods and analysis or previous experience in M&E or project management
  • Advanced knowledge of the Ukrainian language (C1 level), fluency in English (B2 level)
  • Good computer literacy, good knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes (especially MS Excel); knowledge of other programmes for information management, data visualisation or data analysis is an advantage
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, ability to work independently, curious mind and passion for learning, research and analysis


People in Need Slovakia offers:

  • Salary 900 EUR gross/month based on your experience and PIN’s salary scale (for full time)
